Nourishing Nuggets
"You
simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously
giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And
you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have
and are grateful for, the more will be given you. "
~ Sarah Ban Breathnach ~ (Simple Abundance)
You
don't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when. You can only
decide how you're going to live. Now." ~Joan Baez.
Nourishing Reflections
So
often we see our bodies as objects to be adorned or altered. And often
we do this to meet the standards of someone or something out there that
tells us what we should look like. If we do not meet the standards, we
end up feeling badly about ourselves.
But
there is another aspect of the body that most of us do not pay attention
towhat you body DOES. We forget that it is because of the body that we
can walk along a rushing creek, hug a child or significant other, smell
the gardenias that signal summer is right around the corner, hear the
birds singing in the early morning, see a beautiful clear blue sky and
feel the gentle breeze caress our skin.
We
forget that the body performs incredible, intricate functions every
single day. Because of our bodies, we can read, write and make music; we
can fight infection and heal injuries; we can digest food and use it to
keep healthy; we can bear children, and we can relish in the beauty of
the sun setting over the ocean.
So
next time you feel your body does not measure up, consider what it has
done for you lately!
Stay Attuned Tip
Start
a new ritual. When you brush your teeth in the morning, name aloud one
functional thing for which you appreciate your body. When you brush your
teeth at the end of the day, recall one thing that your body did for you
that day that you appreciate.
For
example, from Karin:
In the morning: I very much appreciate being able to see, because doing
so allows me to drive.
In the evening: I very much appreciated my body today for being able to
snuggle with my little long-haired dachshund, Logan.
Stay Attuned Affirmation
I
appreciate my body because it allows me to enjoy watching beautiful
sunsets.
What's New at Nourishing Connections
Most
people label food as good or bad. Most professionals speak of good and
bad foods and diets. But labeling food this way has negative
consequences. Find out why at
